Free street press Anthology ‘Off Life’ opens Submissions for problem #14 – Creators of All Levels of Experience welcome to apply

Back in July I had the enjoyment of chairing a panel at ELCAF on the subject of ‘Championing Comics’ with zine-maker Simon Moreton (Minor Leagues), One beat Zines co-founder Julia Scheele, as well as Off Life editor Daniel Humphry. Off Life is, of course, the totally free street press anthology offered in print as well as digital style that seeks not just to bring comics to a new audience however likewise to promote the work of newer voices on the scene. You can checked out my evaluation of the last problem right here at BF.

At that panel Humphry spoke passionately about providing that additional spotlight to new talent; a point he likewise made when I interviewed him right here earlier this year at damaged Frontier when he stated “there is honestly nothing we like much more than opening an email attachment from a new or undiscovered artist as well as being blown away by the work. a few of the people we featured in our early problems were total unknowns at the time, as well as now have books with major publishers. We’re not declaring that’s since of us (it’s their talent!) however it is gratifying to see somebody who you believed in from their very first comic continue to discover bigger as well as bigger audiences.”

The mixing as well as matching of recognized names as well as interesting specialists at the beginning of their comics journey is one of the true joys of Off Life. Indeed, two of this year’s damaged Frontier ‘Six little press Creators to Watch‘ – Ellice Weaver (above) as well as Brigid Deacon (below) – got notable early exposure from the anthology.

Off Life are taking submissions once again for problem #14 with full details on what they’re searching for on their site here. Creators of all levels of experience are invited to send in their work for consideration. As ever, this represents a fantastic chance to get your work available as well as seen by a considerably broadened audience. The deadline is September 16th, providing hopeful artists around six weeks to get a 1-4 pages strip Off Life‘s way!

Get published in Off Life and… who knows… you may even get discussed in a damaged Frontier evaluation later in the year…
